Quarry Bay to Repulse Bay hike via Tai Tam Reservoir – Easy

One Sunday evening the hubby and I decided to go for a hike with Dougie and Bella in tow. ( my canine kids)

We got to see the setting sun at Repulse bay and got to hike at dusk on a very rugged path ; thanks to our laziness that made us venture out late.

Difficulty: 4/10 due to the climb, nearly 400 mts. elevation

Duration: 2 hours

How to get there: We walked from Sai Wan Ho to Taikoo and from Mtr exit B, we walked and took a left to Greig’s road. We followed the Wilson trail sign.

We kept on to the path till we got to Mount Parker and walked up the slope.

When we reached the top of Mount Parker we turned right and went down to Tai Tam Reservoir.

We reached the reservoir and crossed over the bridge. We got to see the pretty Koi fish too.

We came to the big Barbecue site number 3 and turned right.

After the concrete, we were welcomed by rocky, muddy terrain, but we had to hurry as the sun was setting and it was getting dark.

The path was very uneven and we were happy that we had our hiking shoes on. The dogs enjoyed this path.

We ended up on the Tsz Kong bridge between Stanley twin peaks and Violet Hill, we took a left and walked on the concrete path. We didn’t go towards Violet hill.

We took a right and got on to another beaten path that took us down near Hong Kong International School, Repulse Bay.

We walked towards Repulse bay to get a cab to take us home as we had Dougie and Bella with us. It was a bit tough, especially on a Sunday to get a taxi.

There is a bus stop too with great connectivity to Wan Chai or Central with buses like 6, 6x, 6A etc.

This was a great hike of over 8 kilometres of walking but very pretty with a mix of concrete and rugged terrain.

Definitely a child friendly hike and a dog friendly hike too. Though a bit difficult to get cabs on Sunday from Repulse bay.

Anyway, happy hiking and stay safe and fore hikes off the beaten path follow me on
