The weather’s getting cooler and balmy and so the better half and I decided to take the 11:15 am ferry from Sai Wan Ho to Lei Yun Mun/ Sam Ka Tsuen.
Difficulty: 5/10 ( lots of steps)
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes to and back to the Sam Ka Tsuen pier
How to get there: Take the ferry to Sam Ka Tsuen/ Lei Yun Mun. It’s a 15 minute ferry ride. The timetable is here http://vps.coralseaferryservice.com.hk/en/timetable/#trip2.
Alternatively you can take the Mtr to Yau Tong and exit at A and walk towards the Chinese Permanent cemetery.
We kept walking up the steps and once we reached the end we turned left. We didn’t climb up devil’s peak as we had hiked up many times before.

We continued on the concrete path and followed the sign that started Lam Tin.
We went around the steel fence and carried on straight.
We came across another fence and turned left and walked down a long flight of steps.
We finally reached O King road and walked to our right and crossed over.
We climbed this flight and continued on our way.
There were steps and steps and steps on this trail but it was cool so it didn’t tire us out.
This was a beautiful walk up where we got to see lovely views.
We continued on our way and luckily there was a change in terrain, it was rugged and muddy unlike the concrete path.
Finally we reached the top of Black Hill and it was wonderful. A new find after a long time.
We decided to turn back as if we continued we would have ended in Tiu King Leng so we walked back the way we came and took the 1:30 pm ferry from Sam Ka Tsuen to Sai Want Ho.
This was a fun hike, not stroller friendly but child and dog friendly and a great workout if you want to do a short 90 minute hike.
Do try it! Happy Hiking!
