Today was a bright and sunny day and that pulled me out of home and hearth and I decided to venture to the absolute east side of Hong Kong Island to explore a new trail.
Difficulty: 4/10 because of the never ending steps up the cemetery
Duration: 1.5 hours approximately
How to get there: I took the train to Chai Wan MTR and exited at exit A. I walked towards the mall and took the footbridge towards Youth Square and turned right and came on to Wan Tsui Road.
I then crossed over and walked up Lin Shing Road towards the Cape Collinson Cemeteries.
I reached the direction board and took the left and walked up. Then crossed over when I sighted steps and climbed and climbed through the cemetery.
I could see Chai Wan from high above. I climbed and then took a right through the graves and climbed up on to a concrete path.
I finally reached a the start of the Pottinger Peak Country trail.
I finally reached this point and walked through the path inside.
I followed the Siu Sai Wan path when I came to the signage.
I walked on to this path for approximately 15 minutes.
Finally I took the right that stated Big Wave Bay and walked on the paved path.
The views were fantastic…found a nice place to chill for a bit.
I walked towards the deep blue sea…
The views were breathtaking. Lovely flowers on the way adorned the path.
I could spot the big wave beach in the distance.
Found another sit out area… so relaxing just sitting and watching the beauty of nature.
I then took a left and sat on the rocks which are supposed to be ancient carved rocks.
I then walked towards the beach and took in the sun, the sea and the sand.
I came to a barbecue area and walked onto the beach.
I recorded the sound of the waves as it felt so soothing
I then walked towards my left and carried on towards the bus stop where I got a mini bus or a number 9 and went to Shaukeiwan very happy and satisfied with this beautiful trail that I explored.
This is a fantastic hike that you can do with kids that are not fussy about climbing steps. Because the end is the wondrous Big Wave Bay where you can enjoy a swim, have a snack and come back very happy and tanned.
Did the same today.. thanks
😊
